On Sunday, Dec. 18th, the Town of Ashland and Ashland Police Department (APD) were made aware that several residences in neighborhoods in and around Ashland were the recipients of antisemitic and anti-LGBTQ propaganda.
Hate has no home here in the Center of the Universe. The individuals or groups of individuals responsible for the flyers seek to spread disinformation, sow hatred, encourage intolerance, and are not a reflection of Ashland’s values.
Safety and a sense of belonging for all in our community – regardless of religion, race, gender identity, or sexual orientation – is of paramount importance to the Town of Ashland.
To date, we are aware of distribution in the following areas: Slash Cottage, 900 & 1000 block of Maple Street, New Street, 100 block of McMurdo Street, 900 block of Virginia Street, E. Francis Road, and Kilby Station Road.
Ashland Police Department is working with regional partners to determine the scope of these incidents and for additional information on suspects. If you or anyone you know has any information, photos, or video that may prove useful to the investigation, please contact APD at: (804) 365-6140.
Most importantly, if you encounter any situation in which you fear for your safety or for those around you, please do not hesitate to call 911 or the Ashland Police Department immediately.
