The Town of Ashland has been awarded a grant for $104,120 from the Chesapeake Bay Trust as part of the
Green Streets, Green Jobs, Green Towns Award Program (G3).
The Chesapeake Bay G3 Grant Program is funded by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region III, West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection and the Chesapeake Bay Trust and supports the design and implementation of green streets, community greening, and urban tree canopy projects that enhance livability in cities and communities. The goal of this grant program is to help communities develop and implement plans that reduce stormwater runoff, increase the number and amount of green spaces in urban areas, improve the health of local waters and the Chesapeake Bay, and enhance quality of life and community livability. The grant to the Town will fund 60% of a stormwater treatment and tree planting project along Frontage Road off U.S. Route 1.
Congratulations to the Town's Engineering team for continuing to pursue innovative ways to fund projects that enhance quality of life in Ashland!
