The Town of Ashland’s Economic Development Authority (EDA) has launched two new incentive programs designed to attract new businesses, create jobs, and support economic revitalization within Ashland’s corporate limits.
Outdoor Recreation Incentive Grant
The Outdoor Recreation Incentive Grant provides up to $20,000 in funding to new businesses that are geared toward visitors venturing along the forthcoming Fall Line Trail, the existing Trans-America Bike Route, and other outdoor recreational activities. New businesses with an eye toward making Ashland a preferred stop on these trails – from bike rentals and repair to restaurants and breweries – are encouraged to apply.
“Ashland’s portion of the Fall Line Trail is already complete, and with the recent announcements by Henrico and Hanover Counties that their portions are fully funded and set to begin construction, Ashland’s EDA thought this was an ideal time to roll out this program,” said Kelly Franke, Business Development Coordinator for the Town of Ashland.
She added, “With an expected completion of those two adjoining sections in 2025, visitors will have 11 miles of trail to enjoy – from Bryan Park to Ashland. Whether you start or end your trip here, we look forward to welcoming lots of folks into our downtown for a bite and pint!”
US Route 1 Enhancement Grant
The US Route 1 Enhancement Grant Program provides assistance to businesses along the US 1 corridor (Washington Hwy) for revitalization efforts that improve the visual appearance and appeal of their property.
"Route 1 businesses are a priority for the Town of Ashland,” said Tim Shelton, Chairman of the Town’s EDA. “We’re offering grants to enhance the appearance of this gateway into town, with special grants available on a dollar-for-dollar basis for properties along Route 1."
The Town of Ashland is now accepting applications for both grant programs, which are administered by the Town’s Business Development Office.
