Due to the age of the equipment and deterioration of the wood and decking, the Town determined that the Pufferbelly Park Skatepark is in need of renovation. Our Public Works Department has done an excellent job of keeping the equipment safe and operating to date, but the time has come for a complete overhaul of the structures to ensure the safety of our patrons.
Utilizing a combination of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Capital Project Fund (CPF) monies, the Parks and Recreation Department has budgeted for a complete a renovation of the skatepark in late 2023/early 2024. The renovation will include the removal of the current equipment, widening and resurfacing the concrete pad, and installation of new ramps and skating elements.
Working with experts at the American Ramp Company, a community input session was held at the skatepark in June 2023. Using the feedback, the American Ramp Company provided two designs for the park. A community input session was held on Monday, September 25, 2023 at the skatepark. Several design options were presented and the overwhelming community feedback from attendees was to select the design in the attached presentation. Input was also received by the Parks and Recreation Manager via email.
Construction is currently underway with expected completion by Spring 2024. The rest of Pufferbelly Park will remain open throughout construction. We look forward to seeing everyone's ollies and nollies on the new ramps this spring!
